    Spain releases Euros provisional squad

    Spanish football national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has called up 29 players in provisional list for Spain’s euro 2024 campaign set to begin in June in Germany.

    He called up four goalkeepers, 9 defenders, nine midfielders, and seven strikers. However, he will have to trim the squad to 26 names by June 7, which is the deadline for all teams to release their final squad.

    While Fermin Lopez and Ayoze Perez received their first senior call-ups for La Roja, Aston Villa defender Pau Torres and Tottenham’s Pedro Porro were left out. However, youngsters 16-year-old Lamine Yamal and 17-year-old Pau Cubarsi both got called up.

    Spain will face Andorra and Northern Ireland in international friendlies in the first week of June before traveling to Germany for the Euros where they will be in Group B which has been famously tagged the group of death with Albania Croatia and Italy all in Spain’s group.

    Spain have won the euros championships three different times with the last one coming in 2008 in Austria and Switzerland and in 2012 in Poland and Ukraine. Their first win was in far back 1964.

    Goalkeepers: Alex Remiro (Real Sociedad), David Raya (Arsenal), Unai Simon (Athletic Bilbao)

    Defenders: Aymeric Laporte (Al Nassr), Robin Le Normand (Real Sociedad), Alex Grimaldo (Bayer Leverkusen), Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid), Dani Vivian (Athletic Bilbao), Jesus Navas (Sevilla), Nacho (Real Madrid), Cucarella (Chelsea), Pau Cubarsi (Barcelona).

    Midfielders: Mikel Merino (Real Sociedad), Fabian Ruiz (PSG), Alex Baena (Villarreal), Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad), Rodrigo (Manchester City), Llorente (Athletico Madrid), Pedri (Barcelona), Eric Garcia (Girona on loan from Barcelona), Fermin Lopez (Barcelona).
